A2. To use a UPS does not require expertise in operation, But it is required that user is aware that there must be a utility electricity supply. Otherwise, he can not use a UPS.

Q3. How does UPS categorized?
A3. The UPS can be categorized into three main types
Off-Line or Passive Stand-By
The most frequently-used technology for protecting PCs in low-interference environments. In the normal mode, the UPS supplies power to the application from the main supply, simply filtered but without any conversion of energy. Its principle of operation is sequential (via the main supply/via the battery). In the event of a cut-out, low or high voltage, the UPS stores its energy in its battery in order to deliver a stable power supply. It is not suitable for using in the case of frequent disruptions industrial or severely disrupted environments).

In normal mode. The device is controlled by a microprocessor which monitors the quality of the electrical system and reacts to any variations. A booster, a fader and voltage compensation circuits are activated in the event of any variation in voltage amplitude.



Q4. Why does the UPS still stay in battery model and keep emitting a beep sound when the utility power is in place?
A4. This situation might happen in several situation:
A. The user forgot to connect the Power plug to the AC mains or there is a improper connection between the UPS and the AC mains so that the UPS can not sense the normal input power and stay in the battery back up mode. Solution in this situation is easy, check from the AC outlet to the Power plug connection to the UPS body, and make sure every connection is firm and secure.
B. The input voltage range goes below or higher than the UPS input range, for example, UPS-650D has a input range 165V-170Vac, if the input voltage is lower than 165V or higher than 170V, then even if the utility power is in place, the UPS shall also work at battery back up mode, because the input power condition is dangerous to the appliances. In this case, we can’t do anything but to wait until the utility power resumes back to the UPS regulation stage.
C. The UPS has a broken fuse, what you have to do is to replace the fuse with a same rated one.

Q5: How long time does a UPS back up?
A5: The back up time is depending on several factors, the power capacity of the load, the battery charging level, and the battery life. Normally the line interactive UPS can back up 3 to 5 minutes at full load, and 10 to 15minutes at half load at battery fully charged basis. Please note that the power consumption of the load may vary significantly especially for the switch power based appliances like personal computer, its power consumption may surges to 3 times larger than its rated power consumption when it is operating games, anti virus programs or large graphics designing programs. Also the battery charging level is also a decisive factor affecting the back up time.

Q6: How long time does the UPS require to charge its batteries fully? How long can a battery be used in a UPS? How to ensure longer life of the batteries?
A6: For standard UPS which enclose a battery or a battery pack, the charging time is 8-12 hours, for external battery applications, the charging time is depending on the particular charging current and the battery capacity. A battery can be used for 1-3 years depending on the UPS using behaviour, to ensure a longer life of the batteries, It is advised to regularly disconnect the UPS from AC mains to discharge the UPS if you are using the UPS in a very good power supply condition.

Q7. Why does the UPS shut down immediately and display" battery" and "Unusual" when there is a utility power failure?
A7. The UPS is supposed to stand on when there is a utility power outage, failure to this effect may caused by overloading, low battery capacity or low voltage, dead battery. And accordingly, you need to reduce the load capacity, charge the battery fully or replace the battery, if the problem still exist, there might be a damage with battery charger circuit. Therefore, it is more advised to submit your UPS to the service center for diagnosis.

Q8. I tried to install the UPSilion monitoring software, but I could not find the serial number?
A8. Every Software comes with a unique Serial number, it is listed on the CD package parcel.

Q9. Do all KEBO UPS have a monitoring software?
A9. All KEBO UPS is available with a Software, however you may get a UPS without a CD software, this is because your dealer did not purchase this package.

Q10. Why should I buy a software?
A10. A monitoring software can make your UPS more intelligent. With a software, you can monitor the UPS loading capacity, the battery charging level, the remaining back up time, Most important, with a software, the UPS can send command to the PC to save all the operating program files and shut down them and the system properly and safely so that you no longer worry any data loss even if you are out while there is a continuing power outage in the office.

Q11. Does KEBO UPS software compatible with MAC, Linux System.
A11. Yes.

Q12. When I press the ON/OFF button, I hear a beep but my UPS does not start
A12. Your UPS is equipped with system to avoid unwanted switching on or off. Press the Power button for at least 4 seconds to switch it ON. When the alarm stops your UPS is ready for use.

Q13. Can I replace the batteries of the UPS by myself?
A13. The battery voltage of different models of UPS varies from 12Volts to 96Volts and even higher for the external battery packs, therefore, it is not recommended for common user to replace the batteries. Please refer to the qualified engineers for servicing. While for the UPS-SP, HP, 850GP,1200GP series, you can follow this procedure to replace the battery by yourself: 1. Disconnect the UPS from AC mains and Switch off the UPS. 2.Open the battery cover. 3. Disconnect the battery wirings from the transformer. 4. Take out the old battery and replace it with a new one.

Q1. What is AVR?
A1. AVR is an abbreviation of Automatic Voltage Regulator, in KEBO Products, it is in particular referring to AC Automatic Voltage Regulator. It is also commonly called Stabilize or Voltage Regulator.

Q2. Why install an AVR?
A2. There are many places in this world with bad electricity power supply conditions, many people are still experiencing constant surges and sags in voltage. Voltage Fluctuation is one of the main cause to the damage of home appliances. Every appliance has a certain input voltage range, if the input voltage drops below or surges higher that this range, it caused a definitely damage in the electricity. In some cases, the appliances just stop working. The Automatic Voltage Regulator is designed to solve such problems, it is designed to have a generally wider input voltage range than normally electrical appliances, and it boost up or suppress the input low and high voltage to the acceptable range.

Q3. How does AVR categorized?

A3. AVR are mainly categorized into two types, Relay controlled tap changing type and Servo Motor Type. Difference between Relay type and Servo Motor Type: Relay type response more quickly than servo motor type, but servo motor regulator the output voltage more precisely, up to 3% tolerance in precision other than 10% in the relay type. Also, in kebo AVR range, we also categorize by display into meter display type and digital display type.

Q4. The AVR do not start work when switch on,why?
A4. This may caused by 1)improper connection, there might be loose contact from the AC mains and or from the AVR to the appliances 2)Overloading, the power capacity of the connected appliance exceed the stabilizer maximum output power. Normally in this case the fuse will blow up or the circuit breaker will trip off. 3) Different frequency between the AVR output frequency and the frequency of the electrical appliance. Accordingly, 1)please ensure a firm and proper connection from the utility power to the AVR and the AVR to the electrical Appliances. 2) make sure do not overload the AVR, for your reference, for color TV, calculate it twice as it’s listed capacity. for motor & compressor based appliances ,calculate it three times of the listed capacity. 3) ensure the same the frequency range of the AVR output and the loaded appliances.

Q5. All the indicators on the AVR shows normal, but the AVR has no output,why?
A5. Possible caused : the output circuit is failure

Q6. Why does the AVR digital meter display "H"or "L"

A6. Every AVR has a input voltage range, in kebo AVR ranges, we offer an input range from 140~260V, 100~260V, 80~260V for different product families. "H" means the input high voltage beyond the regulation range of the AVR, "L" means the input low voltage beyond the regulation range of the AVR so that it goes into protection. You don’t have to do anything to the AVR if A"H"or A"L"is displayed, but to wait until the utility power resumes to the regulation range.

Q7. The" Unusual" LED shows when the AVR switch on.
A7. This may caused by several reasons: 1) high or low input voltage beyond the AVR input voltage range, 2)High temperature protection, 3) Circuit failure. Accordingly, We shall 1) wait until the input voltage return back to the AVR regulation range, 2) switch off the AVR and let it cool down, 3) submit to the service center for repair.

Q8. Why does the AVR always wait 6 seconds or 3 minutes to start up?

A8. Whenever you switch on the AVR or the electricity sudden resume, there must be surges and spikes coming along with. In order to avoid the damaged from the spikes and surges, every Kebo AVR is designed with Delay function, it is controlled by CPU, standard delay time is 6 seconds or 180 seconds and it is selectable. The delay time will count down immediately when the power switch is on or when the electricity resume after the AC failure or protection. The default delay time for all Kebo AVR is 6 seconds. It is important to know that for all applications based on compressor, like fridge, freezer, air conditioner, it is advised to select 180 seconds delay time.

Q9. Why does the AVR immediately trip off when it is switch on?
A9. If the AVR immediately trip off, it means that the loading capacity must exceed the fused current amperage or that of the circuit breaker, in this case, you need to reduce the load, or use a bigger capacity AVR to power the loaded appliance.

Q1. What’s an inverter?
A1. an inverter is an electrical device that converts direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC); the resulting AC can be at any required voltage and frequency with the use of appropriate transformers, switching, and control circuits.Static inverters have no moving parts and are used in a wide range of applications, from small switching power supplies in computers, to large electric utility high-voltage direct current applications that transport bulk power. Inverters are commonly used to supply AC power from DC sources such as solar panels or batteries.

Q2. How does inverter categorized?
A2. The Inverters can be categorized by wave form into Step wave inverter, (Instead of the sine wave delivered by an electric utility, this inverter produces a square wave. Because current is a switched, or turned on and off, the generated current had very abrupt changes and Over time looks like a wave with square corners.) Modified Waveform inverter(The shortcomings of the square-wave inverter become most evident when you try to use it to run a motor. Ac induction motors draw a substantial current surge on startup. They really prefer sine-waves to square-waves and may overheat on the latter. Ac induction motors also store energy during a portion of each cycle, which will create problems if not returned to the battery or otherwise controlled), and pure sine wave inverter,(a few true sine wave inverters have appeared on the market, This kind of inverter will run motors cooler and may offer less interference with radio and TV. However, they are inherently more complex and less efficient, so they may not be justified in many installations.). It can also be categorized by application into Isolation inverter(which is supposed to be used in a isolated place which have no AC power supply, the inverter simply convert the DC voltage sourced from the battery or solar panels to the AC voltage) and on grid inverter( The inverter not only convert the DC voltage to AC, it also distribute the AC power into the utility power grid, meanwhile, the inverter can get the AC power from the grid to charger the batteries. It is more common that in this application, the inverter is being installed with a solar panel system nowadays).

Q3. What types of inverters does kebo offer?
A3. We offer generally two types inverters, inverters based on transistor with modified sine wave output, this ranges from 70VA to 1200VA with and without charger, very portable and high efficiency. The other type is based on transformers with sine wave and modified sine wave output, this ranges from 500VA to 20KVA, less portability,efficiency and surge capacity. Kebo provide battery pack solution according to the customer specific requirements for this inverter family.

Q4. If the inverter has a charger, can I use the inverter and the charger at the same time?
A4. No. If the inverter has a charging function, it the switching from the charger to the inverter can be manually controlled or automatically controlled. In either controlling mode, you can’t operate the charger and the inverter at the same time.

Q5. Does Kebo inverters work on solar panels?
A5. In the current range of inverters we offer, they don’t work with solar panels directly. However, the if the solar panel is being connected with a solar panel controller and then to a battery, the inverter can be used on this application. Take IPS-1000 For example, its DC input range is 11.0 to 14.5V, thus, as long as the DC voltage is offered in this range, the inverter can be installed to provide with you AC power.

Q6. The inverter is on and in the "inverter" mode, why does the inverter keep alarming and no output?
A6. It is highly possible that the inverter is being overloading, it might be overloaded at the starting, or during the operation, the second possibility is that the inverter is detecting a low voltage on the battery which means that it might be below 10V(for 12V input standard) or 20.3V( for 24V input standard), the IPS is designed to have a protection feature to avoid the IPS over discharge discharge the battery, if the the battery is discharged to the low voltage level, the IPS will stop draw current from the battery to protect the battery. another possibility is that inverter has a defective circuit. What you need to do is the reduce the load capacity, or stop the operation charge the batteries fully, if the problem still exist, submit to the service center for repair.

Q7. Why doesn’t the cooling fan work when the inverter is power on?
A7. If there is a fan in your inverter, it must be working immediately when the inverter is power on, this cooling is put there to cool down the internal temperature to avoid overheating. If the fan doesn’t work, it might be a loose contact of the fan cables to the main PCB or a defective fan or a failure PCB. So you need to open the IPS for detailed diagnosis, you are advised to submit it to the service center.

Q8. While the power switch is in the " Charge" status, but the the "Charge" LED indicator doesn’t show and the fan doesn’t run at the same time?
A8. This might be caused by a improper connection between the inverter power plug to the utility power, and or a blown up fuse of the inverter, check the connection of the utility power supply and replace the fuse with a new one with same rating.

Q9. The inverter doesn’t work when it is connected to the battery and switched on. Why?
A9. To ensure the proper working of the inverter, you have make sure that: 1) The battery is fully charged or at least not in low battery voltage condition. 2) The polarity connection from the battery to the inverter is correct, i.e. The positive polarity from the inverter terminal to the positive terminal on the battery and same for the negative polarity, do not ever reverse the polarity connection.
